OXiGENE is a biopharmaceutical company developing new and improved therapeutics that have the potential to deliver significant medical benefits to patients with cancer and serious medical conditions. Our primary focus is developing first-in-class anti-vascular drugs referred to as vascular disrupting agents (VDAs). Our lead compound in clinical development is fosbretabulin. VDAs are a new and highly differentiated class of anti-vascular drug that target existing tumor vasculature, leading to extensive tumor cell death. VDAs target the tumor vasculature rather than the tumor cells and therefore have broad potential therapeutic utility in cancer.
