Southeast New Mexico College “SENMC” was established in 1950 as the State`s first Community College and was named the Carlsbad Instructional Center. Ten years later, the Center was renamed as a branch campus of New Mexico State College System. In 1980, the campus was relocated to a new building, which was expanded with an additional wing of classrooms in 1987. In 1996, computer facility wing for occupational programs was added to the existing facilities. The newest building, the Allied Health Center was completed in 2011 to house programs in Nursing and Allied Health.
Beacon College exists to offer academic degree programs to students with learning disabilities, ADHD and other learning differences. Beacon was established in 1989 by a group of parents who were concerned by the lack of higher-education opportunities for students with learning disabilities. Education support services include a Writing Center and a Math lab equipped with assistive technology, learning specialists, life coaches, counselors, peer mentors, and occupational therapists available to assist students with their academic and personal goals.
Washington State University is a nationally recognized land-grant research university, founded in Pullman in 1890. WSU`s statewide system includes campuses in Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver, with extension and research offices in every county of the state, and a nationally ranked online program. WSU is well known for its programs in veterinary medicine, agriculture, engineering, architecture, global animal health, food science, plant science, business, human health, pharmacy, neuroscience, communications, biofuels, sleep, business, education, energy. And, WSU athletics teams compete in the NCAA`s Pac-12 Conference.
West Liberty University is a forward-looking, four-year public university steeped in a rich heritage as West Virginias oldest institution of higher education. Established as West Liberty Academy in 1837 (26 years before the state was admitted to the Union), it was created to respond to the need for higher educational opportunities west of the Appalachian ridge. The institution is named for the town in which it is located. West Liberty was so named in the late 18th Century as the westernmost point of the new liberty provided through the Declaration of Independence.
HACC, Central Pennsylvania`s Community College, is the first and largest of Pennsylvania`s 15 community colleges. HACC offers approximately 100 career and transfer associate degree, certificate and diploma programs to approximately 14,023 students. Also, the College serves students at its Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York campuses; through virtual learning; and via workforce development and continuing education training.
