Founded in 1964, New York Blood Center (NYBC) is a nonprofit organization that is one of the largest independent, community-based blood centers in the world. NYBC, along with its partner organizations Community Blood Center of Kansas City, Missouri (CBC), Innovative Blood Resources (IBR), Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD), and Rhode Island Blood Center (RIBC), collect approximately 4,000 units of blood products each day and serve local communities of more than 45 million people in the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), Mid Atlantic area (PA, DE, MD), the Kansas City metropolitan area, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Southern New England. The founders of National IPA have created OMNIA Partners, a shared services organization that will enable us to expand our footprint through acquisition of purchasing cooperatives in other markets. National IPA will continue to serve the unique needs of our government and education customers and will continue to operate as it always has, facilitating competitively solicited contracts that are publicly awarded by a lead agency. The contracting process is the foundation of National IPA and that will not change. National IPA participants will benefit from the economies of scale that result from OMNIA`s growth, but all public sector contracts offered by National IPA will remain separate, in adherence with public procurement guidelines and there will be no crossover from the private sector.
