About the Person

Arnold J. (Arne) Johnson is senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of Noble Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NBL). He oversees the company’s Corporate Affairs group, including legal, global compliance, communications and government relations, and global security. Arne joined Noble Energy in January 2001 as associate general counsel and assistant secretary. He was elected vice president, general counsel and secretary in February 2004 and to his current position in July 2008. Arne began his career at ARCO in 1980, serving in positions of increasing responsibility in the company’s land department until moving to the legal department in 1989. He held several positions at ARCO’s domestic subsidiary, Vastar Resources, including assistant general counsel from 1997 to 2000. Before joining Noble Energy, Arne served as senior counsel at BP America from October 2000 to January 2001. Arne obtained a bachelor’s degree in public administration from Northwest Missouri State University in 1977 and is a 1980 graduate of Creighton University School of Law. He has served as chair of several professional organizations, including the Louisiana Mineral Law Institute, the Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Oil, Gas and Mineral Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. Arne has also served on the advisory board of the Institute for Energy Law. He is currently a member of the boards or advisory boards of the World Affairs Council of Houston, where he is vice president; Northwest Foundation, where he is vice president; Creighton University School of Law; and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston - Houston. He is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation. Arne is a member of the Texas, Colorado and Nebraska bar associations, and has authored and presented numerous articles on ethics and other legal topics involving the oil and gas industry.
