Aransas County is located on the Gulf of Mexico and offers the relaxed, laid back quality of life of a coastal community. The Allegheny County Controller`s Office consists of the Accounting, Audit, and Management Systems divisions, as well as administration staff. The Accounting Division`s mission is to monitor fiscal affairs of the County; prepare and certify the statement of indebtedness of the County; approve payroll; and provide financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This includes disbursing funds in a timely manner and in accordance with the County`s adopted budget, grant requirements, contractual specifications and obligations. Within Accounting, the Payroll section processes the paychecks of the entire County workforce. Through the Auditing Division, the Controller ensures that the County is achieving honest, efficient management and full accountability through every aspect of government. The Controller may audit at any time any account of any agency receiving, disbursing, or authorizing the disbursement of county funds. Within Audit, Construction Inspection reviews all new construction, renovation, land use development and public works facility construction projects from start to completion. The division of Management Systems is responsible for maintaining the County`s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne financial management software while supporting the Controller`s Office Enterprise Content Management (ECM) functions and sustaining the office`s hardware and software systems. In addition, the Controller maintains a professional Administration Division to nimbly and quickly respond to the needs and concerns of constituents, taxpayers, and vendors. The Controller serves ex officio as a member of the Allegheny County Retirement Board, Investment Board, Jail Oversight Board, and Juvenile Detention Board of Advisors.
To manage the health care of our nation`s Veterans, attention is required toward reliability, safety, efficiency and efficacy. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the nation`s largest integrated health care system. VHA has been organized into 21 regional districts that manage care for more than 8.3 million Veterans in 153 Medical centers and more than 1,400 Primary Outpatient Clinics, also known as Community Based Outpatient Clinics, community living centers and Domiciliaries. The VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) is one of the 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs). VISN 6 is comprised of eight VA Medical Centers and 33 associated community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) spanning North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia (see map). The network utilizes more than 13,500 clinical and support staff members, and about 4,000 volunteers to serve greater than 340,000 Veterans annually across our three-state service area. In recent years the Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network has been rated among the best Networks in VA on clinical quality performance measures. This recognition is a tribute to our staff and a confirmation for our patients that they are receiving the very best in quality health care. This area is already one of the fastest-growing, most densely Veteran-centric populations in the nation. As the size and density of the Veteran population in the region increases, VISN 6 also reacts to improve access to care. Over the next two years, VISN 6 will expand outpatient services to Veterans in the Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and Fayetteville, NC areas with the development of Health Care Centers in those communities, and a large Primary Outpatient Clinic in Wilmington. Maintaining quality standards, improving access to care, and enhancing patient satisfaction are core goals for VISN 6.
