About the Company

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) develops and enforces regulations for human health and environment protection, as well as voluntary and technical assistance programs, and international coordination on environmental issues. The agency researches and sets standards for environmental programs and delegates. It was founded in 1970 and is headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia with ten additional regional headquarters offices (Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Denver, San Francisco, and Seattle) as well as more than a dozen laboratories, and other regional and programmatic offices.

 

About the Person

Brenda Mallory is EPA's Principal Deputy General Counsel; she advises the General Counsel on legal and operational matters and oversees the management of the Office of General Counsel. Mallory’s 27-year career in the environmental law and policy arena has included significant experience in both the public and private sectors.  From 2005 until 2010, Mallory was the Associate General Counsel for the Pesticides and Toxic Substances Law Office, which provides legal support to the Agency concerning policy and litigation in the areas of pesticides and toxic substances.  Other EPA leadership positions have included: Associate Deputy General Counsel with principal responsibility for supervising matters involving water and waste issues; Special Assistant in the Administrator's Office; and EPA's representative on a White House Task Force.                 Before joining EPA, Mallory spent 17 years in private practice, 15 of which were with Beveridge & Diamond, P.C., a nationally-recognized environmental law firm where she was a partner and served as the Chair of the Natural Resources Practice Group. Mallory is a 1983 graduate of Columbia Law School and a 1979 graduate of Yale College.
