Sigma Chi (Σχ) was founded on June 28, 1855, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. It was created by seven men between the ages of 14 to 25 as a literary society. The Fraternity`s primary purpose, they believed, was to appreciate, develop and promote the core values of Friendship, Justice and Learning.

The mission of the Alaska Humanities Forum is to use the humanities to tell stories and impact the lives of all Alaskans. The Forum is a 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1972 by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the Forum is one of 56 state and territorial groups also supported by the NEH. The Forum is also a member of the Federation of State Humanities Councils. The Alaska Humanities Forum engages Alaskans in humanities-based projects and innovative programs which are either funded by the Forum or run directly by the Forum.
