The university can trace its beginning to 1891 when members of the Church of the Brethren, moving west to California, founded Lordsburg College. When the surrounding agricultural community of Lordsburg was renamed to La Verne in 1917, the institution followed suit and La Verne College was established. To provide opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals and become contributing citizens to the global community. More than 50,000 students are enrolled in TCC`s associate degree and technical programs, making it the sixth largest among Texas colleges and universities. Community and Industry Education offers additional opportunities for businesses and individuals of all ages, through non-credit courses, workshops and customized training programs.
