At Tropical Smoothie Cafe, we`ve been making and serving fresh food and smoothies for as long as we can remember. In 1993, even before we opened our first Cafe, we served fresh fruit smoothies from a stand on a Florida beach. We`ve come a long way since then, but we`ve remained true to our early days of pure, wholesome food. In 1997, we opened our first franchise in Tallahassee, Florida to give our customers a place to sit and relax while enjoying our fruit smoothies. By 1999, we added a wide range of wholesome food options to our menu that perfectly complemented our smoothies. One year later, we officially established the Tropical Smoothie Cafe name. In 2007, we celebrated our 10 year anniversary and started our own holiday, National Flip Flop Day. On National Flip Flop Day, we raise funds to benefit Camp Sunshine and customers who visit our Cafes wearing flip flops between 2pm - 7pm receive a FREE smoothie. It`s a great day to bring on the sunshine in the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Today, we have over 540 franchise locations in 42 states and customers continue to fall in love with Tropical Smoothie Cafe as a destination for flavor. We`ve always been guided by this one simple belief: when you eat better, you feel better and when you feel better - all is better. It`s why our mission is to inspire a healthier lifestyle by serving amazing food and smoothies with a bit of tropical fun.

Starting as a small taco stand in Cheyenne, WY back in 1968, our one-of-a-kind tacos and other bold flavors were an instant hit in the community. Two local businessmen wanted to share these unique flavors with the world. So, they purchased the franchise rights in 1969 and named the restaurant after the man who started it all – John. Ever since that very first taco stand, Taco John`s has been all about bringing the flavor. From handmade salsas and classic Crispy Tacos with freshly-made shells to our signature Potato Olés®, we know how to Olé The Day. From there, Taco John`s restaurants began popping up across the Midwest, evolving to include drive-thrus and interior seating to bring you the unique flavors that made Taco John`s famous. Our menu evolved to include bold originals like Potato Olés, Meat and Potato Burritos, and our holiday specialty: Nachos Navidad®. Ever hear of Taco Tuesday®? We started it! We even trademarked it. That`s how seriously we take tacos. Today, Taco John`s operates and franchises nearly 400 restaurants in 23 states – making it one of the largest Mexican quick-service restaurant brands in America. We continue to grow across the country – but some things never change. Like our uncompromising standards of food quality, dedication to using real ingredients, signature bold flavors, and our commitment to Olé The Day!
