The Kenner Business Association fosters leadership and the advancement of the community vision. We strive to provide, encourage, and promote our member businesses. Aurora`s mission is to prevent end homelessness in the community. Aurora believes that the community will be stronger when every man, woman and child have a safe, decent and sustainable place to call home. The meaning of the word, aurora, is a luminous light. In fact, each day the staff gives light to homeless individuals and families by re-establishing stability through providing access to resources, such as shelter, nourishment, healthcare and much more. Aurora serves over 1,000 men, women and children each year through programs and services. Moreover, Aurora is a leading catalyst in identifying gaps, establishing innovative and permanent solutions, and drawing together interested parties to ensure that homelessness becomes a problem of the past.
Founded in 1969, EAC Network is a not-for-profit human service agency with a network of 70 programs throughout Long Island and New York City. Last year EAC Network helped over 68,500 people of all ages. Among those we assisted were children who have been physically or sexually abused, senior citizens needing support, people struggling with substance abuse and/or mental illness, youth in the foster care system, persons on public assistance seeking financial independence, adults and youth who are under or unemployed, individuals needing help to mediate disputes and families in crisis.
At the Obama Foundation, we are guided by a core belief: that ordinary people working together can change history. Our mission is to inspire those people to take action, empower them to change their world for the better, and connect them so they can achieve more together than they can alone. We were founded by community organizers, so when we seek change, we do it by bringing people together. That approach begins at home, on the South Side of Chicago, where we are building the Obama Presidential Center. The Center represents a historic opportunity for Chicago: a chance to build a world-class museum and public gathering space that celebrates our nation`s first African American President and First Lady, steps away from where he began his career, where she was raised, and where—together—they made their home. But that approach extends to all our work, whether it`s holding leadership training sessions in communities throughout the U.S., bringing local leaders together in countries around the world, working to support the global education of girls, or ensuring young men of color have pathways to opportunity. As President Obama has said, “we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together.” So join us.
