About the Company

Jacksonville, the largest city in area in the continental United States, is a rapidly growing metropolitan city in Northeast Florida, with approximately 900,000 residents. Under its strong mayor form of government, residents elect a mayor and a 19-member City Council, with five at-large members and 14 members elected by district. Lenny Curry is Jacksonville`s eighth mayor since the consolidation of Duval County and City of Jacksonville governments in 1968.

 

About the Person

Cindy Laquidara is General Counsel of the Office of General Counsel. In addition, she often advises JEA, Jacksonville Aviation Authority, the City Council and the Mayor's Office. She also includes the Jacksonville Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, among other clients. Ms. Laquidara is board certified by the Florida Bar in City, County and Local Government Law, and has been noted as one of Florida's top government lawyers by Florida Trend. Prior to becoming Chief Deputy General Counsel, Cindy was senior shareholder in Laquidara, Edwards, Cohen & Jacobs, P.A., where her practice was concentrated in the areas of commercial litigation, redevelopment, acquisitions and dispositions, construction law, corporate negotiations and government issues. She has over twenty-five years of litigation experience, including two years with the Office of General Counsel as Assistant Counsel from 1985 to 1987. Ms. Laquidara also served as law clerk for U. S. District Court Judge Walter Jay Skinner in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Laquidara received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in political science from the University of Massachusetts in 1979. She received her law degree in 1982 from Boston College, where she graduated magna cum laude and served as Managing Editor and Articles Editor for the Law Review. Cindy is active in the Jacksonville Bar Association, where she is a past chairman of the Commercial Litigation Section.
