The governor of California is the chief executive of the California state government, whose responsibilities include making annual State of the State addresses to the California State Legislature, submitting the budget, and ensuring that state laws are enforced. The Department of the Secretary of State touches the lives of virtually every Maine resident. With more than 20 online services already in place, the Department of the Secretary of State is demonstrating the exciting possibilities for making e-Government services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through a partnership with the Information Resource of Maine (InforME), new online services are being launched on a regular basis. Importantly, the Department takes its responsibilities in the area of elections and civic education very seriously.
