Wayne County Airport Authority was established in 2002 by the Michigan State Legislature as an independent agency responsible for the operation of Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) and Willow Run Airport (YIP).Willow Run Airport, which once housed the world`s busiest aircraft bomber plant to produce the B-24 Liberator for World War II, today remains an important part of the Southeast Michigan air transportation infrastructure as a reliever to Detroit Metro serving air cargo, general and corporate aviation.
