Within thirty minutes drive is the nationally known East Carolina University Medical Center and Vidant Medical Center. Edgecombe County`s location offers a mild year-round climate with four distinct seasons. After a brief winter snowfall or two, we know that it won`t be long until the Dogwoods begin to bloom. After a few days of hot sunbathing days in summer, we know that the local maple trees will soon begin to show the brilliant colors of fall. The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) is a national, independent and accountable prosecuting authority whose main objective is to prosecute federal offences and provide legal advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies. The PPSC prosecutes cases under federal statutes that are referred to it by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), other federal investigative agencies, and provincial and municipal police forces. These cases are related to environmental offences, money laundering, organized crime, tax evasion, terrorism, and regulatory offences. As a national organization, the PPSC has offices in every region across Canada, including in all three territories and its Headquarters is in Ottawa.
Established July 1, 1980, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) ensures that agency regulations are clear, necessary, legally valid, and available to the public. Since its creation, OAL has been and continues to be responsible for reviewing administrative regulations proposed by over 200 state agencies for compliance with the standards set forth in California’s Administrative Procedure Act (APA), for transmitting these regulations to the Secretary of State and for publishing regulations in the California Code of Regulations. OAL assists state regulatory agencies through a formal training program, as well as through other less formal methods, to understand and comply with the Administrative Procedure Act. OAL also accepts petitions challenging alleged underground regulations–those rules issued by state agencies which meet the Administrative Procedure Act’s definition of a “regulation” but were not adopted pursuant to the APA process and are not expressly exempt. OAL also oversees the publication and distribution, in print and on the Internet, of the California Code of Regulations and the California Regulatory Notice Register.
