About the Person

Mr. David C. Robinson has been Executive Vice President and General Counsel at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. since June 1, 2015. In this capacity, Mr. Robinson oversees the law department, government affairs and compliance. He served as Director of commercial markets law since August 2014 until May 2015, Head of enterprise transformation, strategy and corporate development since April 2012 until August 2014 and Director of Corporate law since September 2010 until April 2012 at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. He joined The Hartford in 2006 as a Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel. He has held a number of leadership positions at The Hartford, including leading The Hartford’s legal efforts in Property & Casualty and Group Benefits, overseeing corporate law and serving as corporate secretary and driving its restructuring and transformation efforts. Prior to joining The Hartford, he spent a number of years with Chubb Corporation, holding positions of increasing responsibility including serving as Deputy General Counsel. He also has a background in commercial litigation. He served as Corporate Secretary and the Director of the Corporate Law Group overseeing all securities, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property and commercial law matters. Before joining The Hartford, he spent a number of years with The Chubb Corporation in roles of increasing responsibility, including serving as interim/acting general counsel of Chubb & Son in 2005 and then as deputy general counsel of Chubb. He also serves as a Director for the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform. In addition, he has been appointed by Connecticut Governor Malloy to the Governor's Council on Climate Change. He served as a Member of the Board of Overseers of the RAND Corporation Institute for Civil Justice and serves on the board of the Metro Hartford Alliance and the executive board of the Connecticut Insurance & Financial Services Cluster. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School. He holds a master’s degree in accounting from University of Hartford.
