The State Comptroller is New York State`s chief fiscal officer. The Comptroller is charged with auditing government operations and operating the Statewide Retirement Systems. His responsibilities include: Managing the State`s assets and issuing General Obligation debt; Conducting management and financial audits of State agencies and public benefit corporations; Issuing reports on State finances; Overseeing the fiscal affairs of local governments, including New York City; Reviewing State contracts, payrolls and payments before they are issued; Maintaining the State`s accounting system and issuing monthly cash financial statements; Overseeing the Justice Court and Abandoned Property Programs; and Operating the retirement systems for State and local retirees, valued at $140.5 billion as of March 2006. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation is the agency charged with licensing and regulating businesses and professionals in the State of Florida, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, real estate agents and pari-mutuel wagering facilities. Our mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly, and we strive to meet this goal in our day-to-day operations. The Department is under the executive branch of the Governor and is governed by Chapter 120, F.S. The Department is structured according to the requirements of Section 20.165, F.S.
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) mission is to preserve and improve the health status of all Californians. DHCS works closely with health care professionals, county governments and health plans to provide a health care safety net for California’s low-income and persons with disabilities. DHCS finances and administers a number of individual health care service delivery programs, including the California Medical Assistance Program (Medi-Cal), California Children’s Services program, Child Health and Disability Prevention program and Genetically Handicapped Persons Program.
