Albany Law School is a small, private school located in the heart of New York State`s capital, where it has educated leaders since 1851. Students have access to New York`s highest court, federal courts, the executive branch, and the state Legislature. The university can trace its beginning to 1891 when members of the Church of the Brethren, moving west to California, founded Lordsburg College. When the surrounding agricultural community of Lordsburg was renamed to La Verne in 1917, the institution followed suit and La Verne College was established.
