About the Person

Mr. Fournier J. Gale, III, also known as Boots, has been General Counsel and Senior Executive Vice President of Regions Financial Corporation since February 2011 and also serves as its Secretary. Mr. Gale serves as Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretary and General Counsel of Regions Bank. Mr. Gale has been President of the Birmingham Bar since 1989. He serves as Treasurer of University of Alabama Law School Foundation. Mr. Gale was a founding Partner of Maynard Cooper & Gale, P.C. in Birmingham, Alabama. He served as President of the Young Lawyers at State Bar of Alabama from 1977 to 1978. Mr. Gale has been active in many civic and community organizations, including Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama. He served at American Bar Association (Standing Committee on Environmental Law from 1980 to 1986. He served at Standing Committee on Federal Judiciary and the Alabama and American Bar Foundation from1998 to 2000. Mr. Gale was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as Editor-in-Chief of the ALABAMA LAW REVIEW. Mr. Gale served as Special Counsel to the Governor of Alabama from 1999 to 2002 and served as General Counsel of the Business Council of Alabama. Mr. Gale served as a member of the Alabama Commission on Higher Education for nine years and served as its Chairman from 1998 to 2000. Mr. Gale served as a Member of the Jefferson County Judicial Nominating Commission from 1994 to 2000. He served as President of the University of Alabama Law School Foundation in 1987. He is a Shareholder in the Birmingham office of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C. and a member of Southern Research Institute, Inc.'s Litigation, Environmental Law, Appellate and Governmental Affairs Practice Groups. He serves as Director of Southern Research Institute, Inc. He served as president of both the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Judicature Society. He graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in 1966, where he served as member of Jasons and Omicron Delta Kappa, among other honorary societies. He received his Bachelor's Degree and Law Degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1969.
