Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, the largest children’s hospital in California, is a 442-bed pediatric care facility providing the largest source of comprehensive pediatric medical services in San Diego, Southern Riverside and Imperial Counties. Rady Children’s is the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare and is the region’s only designated pediatric trauma center. On October 10, 2010, Rady Children's opened the Acute Care Pavilion, a LEED-Certified (green) building that is home to the incredible new Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the state-of-the-art Warren Family Surgical Center, and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that cares for our community’s most fragile newborns. In 2001, Rady Children’s formed an affiliation agreement with the University of California-San Diego to unify pediatric patient care, research, education, and community service programs on the Rady Children’s campus.
SJH provides a full range of care facilities including 16 acute care hospitals, home health agencies, hospice care, outpatient services, skilled nursing facilities, community clinics and physician groups. All of our hospital and home health entities are accredited by the Joint Commission. In our award-winning facilities, SJH maintains a “continuum of care,” matched to the diverse needs of the urban centers, smaller cities and rural communities who depend on us every day. Established in 1982, the roots of our health care organization date back more than 100 years to 1912 when a handful of Midwestern religious women, who became the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, traveled across the country to open a school and eventually a small hospital in the lumber town of Eureka, California. Today, SJH continues its work in the tradition of the Sisters through our acute care hospitals, home health care, rehabilitation programs, primary care clinics and many community outreach and wellness programs. In each community it touches, SJH reaches out to care for the poor and vulnerable. Based in Irvine, Calif., SJH serves 10 distinct communities within these three general regions and strives to provide perfect care while building the healthiest communities and ensuring every encounter is sacred. These extraordinary efforts have been recognized locally and nationally, including distinctions in US News & World Report and Magnet recognition.
