Pencils of Promise (PoP) is an international education non-profit organization. PoP believes every child should have access to quality education, and creates schools, programs, and global communities around the common goal of education for all. Since its founding in October 2008, Pencils of Promise has broken ground on over 300 schools in Guatemala, Ghana, Laos and Nicaragua and has provided quality education to over 30,000 children living in these areas.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading community-funded organisation in Australia raising money for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer. In total, since 1994, NBCF has awarded more than $127 million to around 430 Australian-based research projects to improve the health and well-being of those affected by breast cancer. We are very proud that the National Breast Cancer Foundation raises and grants funds exclusively for research, because we believe research is the most effective way to end breast cancer. We are also very proud of the fact that the National Breast Cancer Foundation has a commitment to funding research right across the spectrum – from understanding the fundamental basis of the disease to psychosocial research aimed at improving the quality of life for survivors. Our aspirational goal is to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. With 42 Australians diagnosed each day and seven dying from the disease, there is still much to do.
Liberty, is the Montgomery County Chapter of NYSARC, Inc. a statewide advocacy organization serving people with disabilities through its 55 member Chapters. Our mission: We work together to support people with disabilities and others in need to achieve a quality of life each person values. Our values — Quality, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, Resourcefulness & Person-Centered — form the foundation of all our endeavors. The Montgomery County Chapter was founded in 1957 by parents of children with developmental disabilities who wished to establish special education programs in the local community. Over the last 54 years, the organization has grown to include vocational, residential, day, family support and health-related services.
Share Our Strength began in the basement of a row house on Capitol Hill in 1984, in response to the `84-`85 famine in Ethiopia. Brother and sister Bill and Debbie Shore started the organization with the belief that everyone has a strength to share in the global fight against hunger and poverty, and that in these shared strengths lie sustainable solutions. Today we focus these strengths on making No Kid Hungry a reality in America.
