Founded in 1987 as an anti-drug advertising campaign and formerly known as the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing substance abuse among adolescents by supporting families and engaging with teens. Partnership for Drug-Free Kids translates the science of teen drug use and addiction for families, providing parents with direct support to prevent and cope with teen drug and alcohol abuse. On our website, drugfree.org, families can find the information they need to understand the ever-changing drug landscape, which now includes abuse of prescription drugs and over-the-counter cough medicine. In response, we created an expansive national action campaign, The Medicine Abuse Project, to rally parents, educators, health care providers, communities and law enforcement to collectively help end this epidemic and prevent half a million teens from abusing prescription drugs and over-the-counter cough medicine. In addition to our support and resources for parents, we reach youth directly through teen-targeted efforts that inspire young people to make positive decisions to stay healthy and avoid drugs and alcohol. Through our public education initiatives, our public service announcements make up the largest single-issue public service campaign in advertising history. Finally, we build healthy communities, advocating for greater access to adolescent treatment and recovery support, as well as funding of youth prevention programs.
The Rhode Island Foundation is the largest and most comprehensive funder of nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island. In 2013, the Foundation made grants of more than $31 million to organizations addressing the state’s most pressing issues and needs of diverse communities. The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the leading community-funded organisation in Australia raising money for research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer. In total, since 1994, NBCF has awarded more than $127 million to around 430 Australian-based research projects to improve the health and well-being of those affected by breast cancer. We are very proud that the National Breast Cancer Foundation raises and grants funds exclusively for research, because we believe research is the most effective way to end breast cancer. We are also very proud of the fact that the National Breast Cancer Foundation has a commitment to funding research right across the spectrum – from understanding the fundamental basis of the disease to psychosocial research aimed at improving the quality of life for survivors. Our aspirational goal is to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. With 42 Australians diagnosed each day and seven dying from the disease, there is still much to do.
For more than 30 years, Atlantic has made grants to advance opportunity and lasting change for those who are unfairly disadvantaged or vulnerable to life`s circumstances. As a limited life foundation, we make grants through our Ageing,Children & Youth, Population Health, Reconciliation & Human Rights, and Founding Chairman Programmes. We are active in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the United States. We made our final grants in Australia in 2011, and in Bermuda,South Africa and Viet Nam in 2013.
