Washington, DC-based United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has Appointed Hillary Byrnes as Assistant General Counsel

 

About the Company

At any time, the bishops may be asked to address and respond to a variety of issues and concerns that affect the life of the Church both within the church community and within contemporary society. Such issues may be specific and transitory and may require a limited commitment of time and resources. Their goals are short-term and will be addressed, implemented, and evaluated in a five-year cycle.

 

About the Person

Hillary Byrnes graduated from Notre Dame Law School, where she served on the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics and Public Policy. She earned her bachelor's degree in international politics from Georgetown University's School of of Foreign Service. Before joining USCCB, she worked at the law firm of Hunton and WIlliams for four years and at the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division for a year and a half. She is a member of the bars of New York and the District of Columbia and has been admitted to practice before several federal trial and appellate courts.
