The Catholic University of America, founded in 1887 by the U.S. Catholic bishops with the support of Pope Leo XIII, is the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States. Established as a graduate research center, the University began offering undergraduate education in 1904 and today is home to 12 schools and 21 research facilities. Catholic University is the only American university with ecclesiastical faculties granting canonical degrees in three disciplines. The University`s verdant 180-acre campus, located just north of Capitol Hill, allows students easy access to the wide range of educational, cultural, and political opportunities that Washington, D.C. has to offer.
Established in 1926 as part of the Tyler Public School System, Tyler Junior College gave residents of the Tyler area access to higher education. The college had a small student body during its early years. In the 1930s, as the country struggled through the Depression, only 200 students were enrolled. However, the prosperity of the 1940’s signaled major changes. In 1945, Tyler voters overwhelmingly approved a measure to create a junior college district and issued $500,000 in bonds for the College. The expansion of the College included new facilities and new full-time faculty members. Its growth came at an appropriate time for local residents and for many veterans who returned to Tyler to seek new opportunities and access to higher education. Tyler Junior College has continued to expand since its “rebirth” in the 1940’s. The Tyler Junior College District is now comprised of six independent school districts: Chapel Hill ISD*, Grand Saline ISD, Lindale ISD, Tyler ISD*, Van ISD* and Winona ISD. Today, after 86 years, Tyler Junior College offers more courses in any single major division than were offered in the entire curriculum in 1926. The College now has an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students each semester. In addition, 20,000 individuals take continuing education courses each year.

Moorpark College opened September 11, 1967, with 2,500 students. The campus is located at the eastern edge of the city of Moorpark. MC is one of the most beautiful community colleges in California. The 150-acre campus is a short drive from the Thousand Oaks/Agoura Hills areas and is situated near the city of Simi Valley. It includes 15 buildings, a football stadium, track, other athletic facilities, a public zoo, and an observatory. Moorpark College is one of the three colleges in the Ventura County Community College District, and part of the California Community College system of 109 community colleges. MC offers two semesters throughout the year (Fall and Spring) in addition to a summer session (May through August).
