St. Anthony Regional Hospital & Nursing Home is proud of its rich history, which dates back to 1905 when Reverend Joseph Kuemper founded the hospital, with the help of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, from LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Today, St. Anthony Regional Hospital, along with its medical staff, serves communities in West Central Iowa. Humber River Hospital is one of Canada`s largest regional acute care hospitals, serving a catchment area of more than 850,000 people in the northwest GTA. The hospital currently operates on three sites with a total of 549 beds, 3,000 staff, approximately 700 physicians and 400 volunteers. Affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen`s University, the hospital is home to Ontario`s first Centre of Excellence for laparoscopic bariatric surgery; Canada`s first home nocturnal dialysis program and a major cancer program. Humber River`s redevelopment plan, approved by the provincial government, saw the official groundbreaking ceremony take place on December 2, 2011. The new Humber River will be Ontario`s first digital hospital, one that Humber River plans to make a technological and environmental showcase. MorseLife opens its Memory Care Residence for seniors with memory impairment. This residence includes a 52-apartment assisted living residence and 30 new long-term care beds on a separate floor. With a host of services and amenities, this residence will be a model for caring for seniors with moderate to advanced memory impairment. In November, MorseLife will also start construction on The Tower at MorseLife, a 300,000 square foot, ten story luxury independent living residence with 182 one and two bedroom apartments and full service amenities.
