The District of Lake Country is located near the centre of the Okanagan Valley and is made up of four distinct neighbourhood communities: Oyama, Winfield, Carr's Landing and Okanagan Centre. Lake Country is a beautiful, unique place, rich in its own cultural history. The District was incorporated as a municipality on May 2, 1995. Shortly after incorporation, a referendum was held and the residents decided to maintain their four, distinct neighbourhood communities. The result was the formation of the only municipality in British Columbia that currently utilizes a neighbourhood constituency system. This allows each of the four neighbourhood communities to elect one Councillor, with the mayor and two councillors-at-large being elected by all the residents of the District.

The Commission collects, analyzes, and distributes a broad array of information on federal sentencing practices, continuously establishing and amending sentencing guidelines for the judicial branch and assisting the other branches in developing effective and efficient crime policy.

The Marshals perform all these roles by coordinating efforts with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. This cooperation has been a cornerstone of the Marshals Service since its inception. The agency`s headquarters is located in Arlington, VA, and provides support to 94 district offices across the country, including the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and three territories of the United States -- the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
