Telematics /tele`madiks/: the use of blended technologies to transmit information over long distances and multiple networks. The dictionary definition of the word telematics doesn`t do justice to the reality of its application. To us, telematics is a way to connect your vehicle to the wider world of information and communication that defines the modern era. To us, telematics is the means by which we improve the lives of customers like you, making your family safer, more productive, better entertained and less inconvenienced—on and off the road. If you are a corporate partner, we make your job easier by providing you with expert professional services and agnostic technologies that cut through the complexities and difficult choices that hamper any regional or global telematics-based initiative. We also use our telematics expertise to improve how society manages key infrastructures and processes. We`re working on programs to eliminate the yearly ritual of standing in line for emissions testing—replacing it instead with remote testing and filing. We`re also working to correct the growing inequality in fuel taxation by enabling convenient road usage charges that will modernize the current system that funds our transportation infrastructure. Through these goals and initiatives, Verizon is better connecting you to helpful communities and convenient services when you need them most.
