The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a Canadian Football League Team with over 100 years of history. In recent years the Roughriders (Riders) have routinely led the CFL in revenue generation and fan support including ticket sales, social media engagement and TV viewership. Roughrider home games are played at historic Mosaic Stadium where a sea of fans dressed in green cover over 33,000 seats. The Riders sell more branded merchandise than all of the other CFL teams combined and with a following across Canada and the US, the Riders regularly sell out home games and draw large crowds at away games. The success of the Roughriders comes despite being the smallest metro area in the North America to have a franchise among top 6 professional sports leagues (CFL, NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS, NBA). In 2013 the Roughriders and Saskatchewan will play host to the 101st Grey Cup Championship Game and Grey Cup Festival. The Grey Cup Championship Game is the nation`s largest sporting event. Mosaic Stadium will be expanded for most of the 2013 season in preparation for the 101st Grey Cup. In 2012 the Roughriders, the City of Regina and the Province of Saskatchewan announced a funding agreement to bring a new $278M state of the art football stadium to Saskatchewan with the Riders being the primary tenant. Construction will begin in the spring of 2014 with completion scheduled for early 2017.
