North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation

North Carolina`s electric cooperatives are a network of not-for-profit electric utility organizations powering the days and empowering the lives of 2.5 million North Carolinians from the mountains to the coast. There are 26 electric distribution cooperatives rooted in communities across the state, each committed to delivering homes, farms and businesses with safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible electricity. There is a group of cooperative organizations in Raleigh that works for the 26 distribution cooperatives. This group includes: North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation, the power supplier to the co-ops; North Carolina Association of Electric Cooperatives, the trade association providing services to them; and Tarheel Electric Membership Association, the organization that supplies the cooperatives with the materials necessary to maintain their modern, sophisticated systems. Each cooperative is independent and owned by the people, called members, to whom it provides service. Those members elect the cooperative`s board of directors, which is responsible for establishing the cooperative`s policies, goals and strategies.

Kansas City Power and Light

Operating from headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, KCP&L has evolved into a full-service energy provider and resource. The company was founded in 1882 and has become one of the Midwest`s most affordable energy suppliers because of our leadership in fuel procurement, plant technology and efficient power production and distribution. KCP&L services more than 800,000 customers in 47 northwestern Missouri and eastern Kansas counties - a service territory of approximately 18,000 square miles. Delivering that power requires 3,000 miles of transmission lines, over 24,000 miles of distribution lines and 320 substations. The Company operates 15 generating facilities providing power to our customers and selling into the wholesale market. We have over 6,100 megawatts of efficient generation assets in operation or under construction. Approximately 76 percent of our fuel costs are from lower cost coal. In fall of 2006, the Spearville Wind Generation Facility was brought online to provide 100.5 megawatts of renewable energy. KCP&L revenues and core earnings per GXP share can be found on our parent company investor pages.
