Established in 1978, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) is the largest municipal housing preservation and development agency in the nation. The District of Lake Country is located near the centre of the Okanagan Valley and is made up of four distinct neighbourhood communities: Oyama, Winfield, Carr's Landing and Okanagan Centre. Shortly after incorporation, a referendum was held and the residents decided to maintain their four, distinct neighbourhood communities.
