The City University of New York (CUNY) is the nation`s largest urban public university, a transformative engine of social mobility that is a critical component of the lifeblood of New York City. Founded in 1847 as the nation`s first free public institution of higher education, CUNY today has seven community colleges, 11 senior colleges and seven graduate or professional institutions spread across New York City`s five boroughs, serving over 260,000 undergraduate and graduate students and awarding 55,000 degrees each year. The George W. Bush Presidential Center is home to the Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the Bush Institute. The Bush Center`s 226,000-square-foot building and 15-acre urban park reside on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. President and Mrs. Bush founded the Bush Institute to continue their work expanding freedom at home and around the globe. Built with private donations, the Bush Presidential Library and Museum opened to the public on May 1, 2013.
