Since 1978, The El Paso Public Television Foundation has been broadcasting non-commercial educational programs for the El Paso and Southern New Mexico region via KCOS-TV, Channel 13.   The non-profit station is community owned and operated. It provides viewers high quality programming including 12 hours of enlightening kid shows on weekdays. Plus an array of news programs, documentaries and performance based shows. It also produces eight local programs that offer guidance to viewers.   Through direct transmission via Channel 13 and Channel 12 (cable), KCOS-TV reaches a potential audience of 2 million people in two states and two countries—Texas, New Mexico and the U.S. and Mexico. It has a 200,000 average weekly audience and a membership of about 3,000 people.
