Our first patient stepped through our doors more than 50 years ago. Some of our first associates are still living in the community, or are part of our volunteer program. Takoma Regional has a rich history dating back to 1928 when the facility was opened as a sanitarium by Dr. Leroy Coolidge. Today this 100-bed, acute-care facility is staffed by over 120 board-certified or board-eligible physicians and nearly 500 compassionate nurses, technicians and support staff members. Takoma`s Wound Healing Center, inpatient rehabilitation unit and geriatric behavioral health unit are just a few of the hospital`s unique specialties. The hospital offers a wide-array of surgical specialties and has a advanced imaging and diagnostic center.
