Created in 1896 the Real Estate Board of New York was the first real estate trade association in the state. REBNY members are New York City`s most talented, energetic and influential real estate professionals. REBNY works on behalf of its members to promote public and industry policies and frequently speaks before government bodies to, among other things, expand New York`s economy, encourage the development and renovation of commercial and residential real property, enhance the city`s appeal to investors and residents and facilitate property management. The Board conducts various professional education programs including state-certified, required courses for licensing, continuing education courses and free seminars to help members hone their professional skills. REBNY also undertakes a wide variety of research projects studying the current residential and commercial conditions within the city and maintains the largest collection of real-estate related information of any city trade association in its Seymour B. Durst library, located at REBNY`s office in mid-town. The Real Estate Board is made up of the following divisions: - The Owners & Builders Division - The Commercial Brokerage Division - The Residential Brokerage Division - The Management Division - The Allied and Associates Division - The Institutional Owners Division
We work to expand career opportunities so that individuals Skilled Through Alternative Routes (STARs) can work, learn, and earn to their full potential. We envision a future where people are celebrated for the skills and potential they have, rather than defined by their level of education. Creating this future starts with changing the way we talk about the 60% of adults in the U.S. who do not have a bachelor`s degree. They may not have a degree, but they have developed valuable skills on the job, through military service, community college or other alternative routes. We recognize them as STARs – workers who are Skilled Through Alternative Routes instead of through a bachelor`s degree. In response to the economic crisis, we are working alongside our partners to rapidly advance the three pillars of work: AWAKEN employers to the value of STARs through data analysis and communications campaigns that change perceptions of workers without a bachelor`s degree and elevate STARs` skills and potential. CONNECT employers with training providers and STARs through the rapid scaling of our online marketplace which will reduce the time, cost, and perceived risk of hiring STARs. ACCELERATE learning and investment by launching the STARs Pathways Collective, activating the workforce ecosystem to support and place 10,000 STARs into middle-wage jobs within the first 3 years. Together we can ensure that STARs are at the center of our country`s equitable economic recovery so they are able to achieve both economic stability and mobility.
