Meridian 2012

Meridian 2012, LLC, is an assisted and senior independent living operating company, that was formed by Morgan Burkett, Dr. Mark Garard, Dennis Hasselberg, and real-estate company 9850, LLC. Morgan Burkett has been a career-long entrepreneur in the hospitality business, with 40+ years of experience as an Owner and CEO of five different enterprises. The partners in Meridian 2012, LLC have invested in over 23 companies that typically achieve very high average rates of return. Meridian is focused on creating a hybrid business, one that would overlay a five-star hospitality service model on the maturing senior living industry. In addition to introducing a new service paradigm, the principals crafted a business strategy of capitalizing on the generally overbuilt hotel market nationwide. This overbuilt condition, coupled with a near depression in the hospitality industry over the last few years means there are a great number of hotels and resorts that can be purchased for a fraction of their replacement cost. With lower building costs, Meridian can invest more into accommodations, amenities and services. A key ingredient of the Meridian business plan is to provide a Platinum operation dedicated to high quality food and service to its residents. Meridian is a value proposition for residents. The Meridian team brings an aggregate experience of over 100 years in various businesses and real estate ventures. The assisted living and senior independent living industry comprises establishments primarily engaged in providing a range of residential and personal care services with on-site nursing care facilities for (1) the elderly and other persons who are unable to fully care for themselves and/or (2) the elderly and other persons who do not desire to live independently. Individuals live in a variety of residential settings with meals, housekeeping, social, leisure, and other services available to assist residents in daily living. The incorporation of major technological advances and new architectural designs will play a significant role in Meridian's growth. Meridian is implementing more home-like designs into our facilities, and providing access to technology advancements for safety and wellness care. Thanks to modern medicine people are living longer. The above 65 age population has grown at the highest rate in history; the building of quality homes for the aging population has not kept pace. The supply/demand is out of balance. Meridian is filling this gape with affordable Platinum service residences. Each property has, on average, 90 to 110 residences with wonderful amenities like crafts, gardening, swimming, outings and in residence cinema. Growth in the aging population is driving demand for industry services. At the same time the older population, who are living longer, are susceptible to becoming frailer, more inclined to suffer from chronic illnesses, including memory loss, heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer and high blood pressure. In addition, aging affects a person's functional abilities such as sight, hearing, muscle strength and coordination, exposing older people to significant risks of injuries. Hospitals and nursing homes are not the answer. Modern well designed multi-unit Senior living homes are. They bring together people within a home-like atmosphere that provides multiple options to keep them active both physically and mentally. Meridian likes to define its properties as a cruise ship on land. Older adults are moving into retirement communities, where they interact with other people their age, participate in hobbies, outings, physical activities while receiving assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting nursing care and eating. The aging demographic trend, demand for services provided by retirement communities is expected to stay strong in future years. The cost of moving into a Meridian Assisted or Senior living home is equal to living in one’s own home, but with much more security and companionship. A private room in an assisted living facility costs, on average, less than two-thirds of an equivalent room in a nursing home. The decision to enter an assisted living community often depends on the individual's need for assistance and the available alternatives in the market. Meridian believes that by providing upscale superior living accommodations coupled with fantastic food and personal service it will attract the finest residence into its properties.
