Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health traces its roots to public health activism at the beginning of the last century, a time of energetic social reform. The School began as the Harvard-MIT School of Health Officers, founded in 1913 as the first professional training program of public health in America. The partnership offered courses in preventive medicine at Harvard Medical School, sanitary engineering at Harvard University and allied subjects at MIT.

Students administer the Honor Code and interact with Memphis through service (80% of the students volunteer at nonprofits) and internships (60% participate in 150+ academic internships). The Catholic University of America, founded in 1887 by the U.S. Catholic bishops with the support of Pope Leo XIII, is the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States. Established as a graduate research center, the University began offering undergraduate education in 1904 and today is home to 12 schools and 21 research facilities.
Norwich University (NU), founded in 1819, is the oldest private military college in the United States, birthplace of ROTC, and is located in Northfield, Vermont.
