The Oklahoma Department of Commerce is the primary economic development entity in the state. What we do: Business Attraction, Creation and Retention We recruit new businesses to the state by promoting the great assets we have for businesses to succeed. We work to foster an entrepreneurial culture and infrastructure in Oklahoma to encourage the start-up of new businesses and partner with communities to ensure existing businesses grow and prosper. Community Development We partner with city and county elected officials and community leaders to help raise incomes, improve the quality of life for local residents, and help local businesses to thrive. Through federal funding, we oversee vital infrastructure and human services investments that help position communities as favorable for business attraction.
The North Carolina Department of Commerce is the states lead agency for economic, community and workforce development. Taking a comprehensive approach to economic development, the Departments work reaches many areas. The Department helps people find jobs and employers find and retain a qualified workforce. The Department administers the states employment security system, supporting workers during career transitions. The Department provides local communities with grants and planning services to spur infrastructure development and economic growth, and administers the states economic incentive programs. The Department is also responsible for recruiting companies to the state, helping existing North Carolina companies expand, encouraging business start-ups, enabling companies to export, and marketing North Carolina as a business and visitor destination. In October 2014, the Department entered a contract with a new public-private organization, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) to take the lead in these recruiting and marketing functions.
The Village of Cordova is a small, quaint community located just a few miles north of the Quad-Cities on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. Cordova maintains its warmth and charm even though we are just minutes away from such known places such as Exelon-Cordova Nuclear Power Plant and Cordova Dragway Park (drag strip), as well as several other surrounding businesses and manufacturing facilities. Locals believe the Mississippi river is heading upstream to its headwaters in Minnesota. This stretch includes Princeton Beach-possibly the premier river boating and recreation destination in the Bi-State area, which is located immediately adjacent to the Village of Cordova. The Village invites you to come take a look at us and learn more.
