Founded in 1888 with just 12 beds, Hackensack University Medical Center was Bergen County`s first hospital. More than a century later, this nonprofit, teaching and research hospital has grown to become the largest provider of inpatient and outpatient services in New Jersey. It has 805 licensed beds, nearly 850 attending physicians, about 2,500 nurses and over 1,100 residents and fellows. Harvey-based Ingalls Health joined UChicago Medicine`s network in 2016.
