My Possibilities is a non-profit organization that was established in Plano, Texas in 2008 as a continuing education center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. More than 250,000 adults with special needs in North Texas find that their opportunities for further education end abruptly after high school. The purpose of My Possibilities is to confront this immense educational void with programs designed specifically for these individuals. This approach encourages lifelong learning and independence, while enhancing quality of life and the dignity of adults with special needs. Over 400 HIPsters (Hugely Important People) attend My Possibilities each week. They differ widely in their diagnoses and abilities, but share a boundless enthusiasm to learn, grow, volunteer, work, develop their talents, and contribute to their community. These HIPsters have much to offer society yet need ongoing support and encouragement to remain engaged. The demand for quality, continuing education programs across North Texas is ever-expanding; space is limited, vacancies are few and waiting lists exist at most programs. Our passion for creating meaningful opportunities distinguishes us from all other providers. We are proud that within and beyond our community My Possibilities is considered a trailblazer for our innovative model of education for this important, underserved population. At My Possibilities, it is our mission to courageously and relentlessly pursue the full, untapped possibilities of our Hugely Important People, making every day count.
