About the Person

Phillip R. Patton was named to the position of Executive Vice President and General Counsel in January 2014. Mr. Patton joined Hartz' Legal Department in mid-1987 serving in various capacities, most recently as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. In his present position, Mr. Patton is responsible for the management and oversight of Hartz’ in-house legal staff, as well as interfacing with outside counsel in legal matters requiring special expertise. Prior to 1987, Mr. Patton was affiliated with the law firm of Horowitz, Bross, Sinins & Imperial with offices in Newark and Secaucus, New Jersey. There, he focused primarily on corporate and commercial real estate and litigation matters, which included the representation of, among others, Hartz Mountain Industries. Mr. Patton received a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, from Seton Hall School of Law, Newark. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey as well as the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
