Ouachita was established in 1886, and it is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Founded in 1933, North Idaho College is a comprehensive community college located on the beautiful shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene. NIC offers more than 150 degrees and certificates in a wide spectrum of academic transfer and professional-technical programs. Approximately 6,700 students are enrolled in credit classes and nearly 6,000 participate annually in non-credit courses.
