A suburb of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, Overland Park was incorporated as a first-class city May 20, 1960 with a population of 28,085. The City Manager serves as policy advisor to the Major and Council and provides leadership, coordination, and management for the affairs of the City to ensure effective community services. The City has 1,023 full time and seasonal employees, a general fund budget of approximately $56.2 million, and a total budget of over $253 million.
