The Office of Secretary of State is one of five constitutional offices originally designated in Indiana`s State Constitution of 1816. Sixty-one Hoosiers have served as the third highest-ranking official in state government. Historically the duties of the office included the maintenance of state records and preservation of the state seal, but as state government expanded so did the responsibilities of the Secretary of State. The Louisiana House of Representatives is the lower body of the Louisiana State Legislature. The House consists of 105 members and meets at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Members of the House serve four-year terms with term limits, limiting representatives to three terms (a total of twelve years). Each member represents an average of 43,175 residents as of the 2010 Census. After the 2000 Census, each member represented approximately 42,562 residents.
