About the Person

Robert J. Grey is executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of PPL Corporation. Grey joined PPL in March 1995 as vice president, general counsel and secretary. He was promoted to senior vice president in March 1996, and to his current position in 2012. Prior to his work at PPL, Grey was general counsel for Long Island Lighting Co. Prior to that, he had been a partner with the law firm of Preston Gates & Ellis (now K&L Gates) in Seattle, Wash., and Portland, Ore. His experience also includes several years as a staff counsel for the New York Public Service Commission, and he served as an attorney for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Grey is a member of the bar in Maryland, the District of Columbia, New York, Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania and Georgia (inactive). He also is a member of the Edison Electric Institute Legal Committee and a member of the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Council Group of the Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law Section. He serves on the board of trustees of St. Luke's University Health Network, the board of directors of the National Chamber Litigation Center (an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce), and the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley. Grey was appointed to and currently serves on the Columbia Law School adjunct faculty as a lecturer in law. A native of Westbury, Long Island, in New York, Grey earned a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, a doctor of laws degree from Emory University, and a master of laws degree in taxation from George Washington University.
