Across the state of Texas, millions of children live in educationally underserved communities, struggling in poor-performing schools. For more than 24 years, KIPP has demonstrated the powerful impact a high-quality education has on improving graduation rates and college attainment, enabling students and communities to command their futures. Through the network of schools in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio, KIPP has been the driving force in raising expectations for academic success with students, families, communities, cities, states, and the nation by proving what is possible.
The mission of Lenoir City Schools is to create a positive educational environment of mutual respect where each student shall discover opportunities to develop necessary skills and attitudes to perform at a level of personal excellence in the twenty-first century. The Lenoir City School System was organized in 1907, and has been a separate school system since the city was chartered. It consists of an elementary school, grades Pre K-3, a intermediate/middle school, grades 4-8, a high school, grades 9-12, and a Central Office. The system is governed by a five-member school board, which is elected by the general population. The citizens of Lenoir City take great pride in their school system and have made a commitment toward excellence. Lenoir City was the first municipality in the state of Tennessee to levy local sales taxes for educational purposes. A new elementary facility was built in 1987 and received the School Architectural Award of Tennessee as well as the Loudon County Beautification Award. The middle school moved into a new building in 1990, that won the TSBA School of the Year Award. Renovations to the Lenoir City High School have just recently been completed. Developing a facility that will be state of the art for the twenty-first century is a prime goal. Through a strong academic program, progressive use of technology, commitment to fine arts, outstanding vocational classes, competitive athletic program, and active participation in the Loudon County Education Foundation, the Lenoir City Schools are committed to building Lenoir Citys future one student at a time.
