For over 50 years, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) has dedicated its services to education, patient care and research for West Texas and beyond. More than 30,000 health care professionals have been trained within TTUHSC`s six schools, and we continue to meet the health care needs of the 2.5 million people in our region. Our growing institution has campuses in Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Lubbock, Midland and Odessa. TTUHSC is an established leader in education and patient care and has built cutting-edge, ongoing research in a multitude of health care topics. Edison Community College was chartered in 1973 under provisions of the Ohio Revised Code as the first general and technical college in Ohio. The college thus emerged without special local taxation as a two-year, public, co-educational, state-supported institution of higher learning. Under its charter it is authorized to offer studies in the arts and sciences, technical education and continuing education. By virtue of legislative action, the College's name was changed in 1977 from Edison State General and Technical College to Edison State Community College. More recently the College is known as Edison Community College. From modest beginnings in 1973 in a rented facility, the College has grown in stages to its current campus, located on 131 acres in Piqua. Its enrollment and offerings have grown steadily during its brief history, from 309 students enrolled in 30 courses in 1973 to more than 3,000 students enrolled today in about 30 technical fields, a broad range of baccalaureate transfer programs, developmental course work, and continuing education offerings.
ounded in 1860, New York Medical College (NYMC) is one of the oldest and largest health sciences colleges in the U.S. with more than 1,400 students, 1,300 residents and clinical fellows, nearly 3,000 faculty members, and 16,000 living alumni. The College, which joined the Touro College and University System in 2011, is located in Westchester County, New York, and offers advanced degrees from the School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Basic Medical Sciences, and the School of Health Sciences and Practice. The College manages more than $32.6 million in research and other sponsored programs, notably in the areas of cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases, kidney disease, the neurosciences, disaster medicine, and vaccine development. With a network of affiliated hospitals that includes large urban medical centers, small suburban clinics and high-tech regional tertiary care facilities, NYMC provides a wide variety of clinical training opportunities throughout the tristate region for medical students, residents, and other health providers.
