About the Company

The National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) was founded in 2011, and is Canada's only professional domestic basketball league. There are currently 8 teams, with two divisions: Central and Atlantic. The NBLC is committed to being one of the leading professional basketball leagues in the world. The NBLC provides Canadian athletes, international athletes, coaches and officials the opportunity to participate in the game they love at the professional level. About the Person

Sam is a Toronto sports lawyer and former University of Toronto basketball star. He has spent his career involved in the sports business.  Over the past twenty years, commencing at the law firm Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, New York (where he worked for the father of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, among others). Proskauer Rose is also the former firm of both David Stern and  Gary Bettman. Sam has advised the NBA, NHL and MLS, several professional baseball teams (including the Toronto Blue Jays) and hockey teams, the Toronto Argonauts, the Toronto Thunderhawks of the NPSL and numerous other sports clients in connection with all aspects of player-team-league relationships, including franchise ownership issues, collective bargaining, rules interpretations, organizational and administrative issues, minor league concerns, league and team policies and procedures, front office employment and human resources matters, player-agent disputes, stadium/arena and ticketing issues, lobbying, and negotiation and drafting of all types of agreements, including media, sponsorship and licensing agreements.Sam's deep and unique knowledge and understanding of the business issues affecting sports leagues and teams provide a powerful complement to NBL Commissioner Paul Riley's experience and capabilities.
