Southern Illinois University is a system of public universities in the southern region of the U.S. state of Illinois. Its headquarters is in Carbondale, Illinois.
Founded in 1910 and located in Durham, N.C., North Carolina Central University was the nation`s first publicly supported liberal arts college for African-Americans, and it is one of 17 institutions in the University of North Carolina system.
