The Republican Party is located at the newly renovated Shaner Republican Center at 112 State Street in Harrisburg. Our party has kept pace with an ever-changing world to include an online headquarters at www.pagop.org, as well as a rapidly growing grassroots e-mail network. Today, there are party organizations in all 67 counties as well as elected Republican officials at all levels of government. OUR PARTY`S STRUCTURE Registered Republicans elect State Party Members by county or by district in the primary election in which a governor is to be elected. State Party Members and County Chairman serve on the State Party and elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman to a four-year term. State Party Members also elect a National Committeeman and National Committeewoman to represent Pennsylvania on the Republican National Committee to elect a National Chairman.
Office of Personnel Management`s history begins with the Civil Service Act, signed in 1883, ending the spoils system and establishing the Civil Service Commission. The Commission, led by the energetic Teddy Roosevelt, laid the foundations of an impartial, professional civil service based on the merit principle – that employees should be judged only on how well they can do the job. In 1978, the Civil Service Commission was reorganized into three new organizations: the Office of Personnel Management, the Merit Systems Protection Board, and the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Each of these new organizations took over a portion of the Civil Service Commission’s responsibilities, with OPM responsible for personnel management of the civil service of the Government.
Edgecombe is a rural County situated approximately one hour`s drive east of Raleigh and two hour`s drive inland from North Carolina`s beaches. Within 30 minutes drive are East Carolina University, Barton College and Wesleyan College. Medical facilities within the County include Edgecombe County Health Department, Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, Vidant Multispecialty Clinic, Freedom Hill Health Center, and OIC Medical Center. Within thirty minutes drive is the nationally known East Carolina University Medical Center and Vidant Medical Center. Edgecombe County`s location offers a mild year-round climate with four distinct seasons. After a brief winter snowfall or two, we know that it won`t be long until the Dogwoods begin to bloom. After a few days of hot sunbathing days in summer, we know that the local maple trees will soon begin to show the brilliant colors of fall. Family, religious worship, friends and work are treasured commodities in Edgecombe County. Edgecombe County is a beautiful spot in Eastern North Carolina.
