The mission of Muncie Community Schools is to provide a quality educational environment that allows every student to maximize his or her potential and, upon graduation, possess the skills necessary to be a positive, productive, contributing member of society. The Muncie Community School Corporation is home to an exceptionally talented collection of over 8,000 K-12 and adult education students and the school corporation employs 1,422 full and part-time faculty and staff members. Our district has nine elementary schools, 2 middle schools, 2 high schools, an alternative program, an area career center, and adult community education programs housed in over 15 locations in the greater Muncie/Delaware County Area. We also have an environmental learning center available for use by all students, faculty, and staff members.

The Missouri City Independent School District and Sugar Land Independent School District were consolidated by election on April 18, 1959, forming the Fort Bend Independent School District. At that time facilities consisted of 2 elementary schools, one in Sugar Land (now the Lakeview campus), and one in Missouri City (now E.A. Jones campus). The junior high was located in Sugar Land (now the Lakeview campus) and a high school was located in Missouri City (now Missouri City Middle School campus). Kempner Stadium was used as the athletic facility for Fort Bend ISD at that time.
