Founder and CEO of Amare Global, Hiep Tran, began his entrepreneurial journey at 23 when he decided that medical school was not for him. He started working for a payments processing company. “For the next 5 years, I surrounded myself with the most successful people I knew, in order to grow and learn from them. Eventually that payments company I was working for was sold. I reached an important crossroads: stay comfortable in my current position or build something for myself. In 2008, together with a partner, we invested all of our savings and co-founded a new company: Meritus Payment Solutions. We started from humble beginnings with five employees in 2008 and surged to over 100 employees by 2014 when we were acquired by Optimal Payments. During those 6 years, I fell in love with helping people achieve their own life-changing success. However, work always came first, family second, and personal health a distant third. Generation after generation, families have depended upon Silver Cross Hospital to care for their loved ones. The commitment goes back to Thanksgiving Day in 1895 when the Will County Union of King`s Daughters and Sons opened the doors of a 33-bed hospital in Joliet named after their emblem the Maltese cross. The mission of providing quality healthcare continues today with a remarkable 296-bed replacement hospital, which opened in 2012. All patient rooms are private—accommodating today`s medical technology and ultimately reducing unnecessary transfers and the risk of infection and injury. The hospital`s unique design creates efficiencies between departments and promotes an environment that helps patients heal faster. Our 158-acre New Lenox campus includes three medical/office buildings, University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center, and an ambulatory care center opening in fall 2017. The hospital also has plans to build a 100-bed Behavioral Health Hospital to open in 2019. Over the years, Silver Cross has developed an extensive ambulatory network throughout the region that includes five satellite facilities with the independent services of many physicians and an array of outpatient services such as diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation.
